- Hello,
-
- I am attempting to setup amitcp on a 1200. I beleive I have it
- "intalled" to the extent that it is on the hard drive, but I need to
- remedy a error I'm getting. The wording is something to the effect that
- the ppp device driver is offline. Does that mean when "online ppp" is
- called that it can't dial the modem. We are using a Metricom wireless
- modem to run ppp. We opened a term to the serial device and can verify
- that the modem is working properly. I also have some general questions
- about the AmiTCP implementation.. like Do you have to have a IP address
- before you get one dynamically allocated. It shows that when I run
- startnet that I should provide an IP address... Some general direction
- would be nice. Which files, and where are they, are the
- "configureation" files. Does AmiTCP use resolv.conf, host,
- defaultgateway, etc.. for configuring.

- Thanks,

- As for the metricom modem,
- It is pretty simple device.
- You type "atdt austinc**ppp" to get it to start sending configuration
- packets to the tcpip stack. There is no authintication. Can the amiga
- dialer send alphanumeric phone numbers to the modem ? Again, Thanks.
